The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a group of 12 undergraduate students from different background, who advise researchers on a Medical Research Council funded project about how school experiences affect young people’s mental health.
School is still recent for our members. That means they can bring something to the research that data alone can’t: what school actually feels like from the inside.
Shapes the questions
Members help decide which parts of school life are worth looking at, and why.
Makes sense of the findings
When results come in, members help the researchers understand what they might mean for real students.
Helps share the research.
Members advise on how to explain the work so it reaches the people it’s meant to help.
The board meets once a term with the research team.
Meetings are relaxed, open discussions, and every view is welcome.
Between meetings, members can catch up on session slides and share further thoughts through the members’ area of this site.
